I'm not even exaggerating here:
Rubio gives up on Senate: ‘He hates it’
Marco Rubio is a U.S. senator. And he just can’t stand it anymore.
“I don’t know that ‘hate’ is the right word,” Rubio said in an interview. “I’m frustrated.”
This year, as Rubio runs for president, he has cast the Senate — the very place that cemented him as a national politician — as a place he’s given up on, after less than one term. It’s too slow. Too rule-bound. So Rubio, 42, has decided not to run for his seat again. It’s the White House or bust.
“That’s why I’m missing votes. Because I am leaving the Senate. I am not running for reelection,” Rubio said in the last Republican debate, after Donald Trump had mocked him for his unusual number of absences during Senate votes.
I know using the "b" word is out of line even in this context, but I'm sorely tempted to refer to Rubio as a "whiny little b**". I'm sorry, that's the only phrase which comes to mind.
My God, Marco...you think the SENATE is a tough, frustrating job? And you want to move from that to being PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES???
You're a young, good looking guy, Marco. Do me a favor and look at these photos of our past two presidents just before and just after their terms of office:
Dont' get me wrong, I have absolutely no sympathy for Bush; he was an awful President who did terrible things...but you can't deny the physical toll that 8 years in the White House took on him.
But wait, you say; Bush was older to begin with, and Clinton was about the same age but was never in as good shape as you are now.
Well, what about Barack Obama? He was just 47 when he was elected, and was physically in tip-top condition at the time, right?
Well, here he is at the top of his game in 2008, vs. what he looked like a few months ago...and he still has almost 1 1/2 years to go:
Yeah, yeah, I know: Lighting and expression can make a world of difference, sure. Even so, if you think you have a tough daily grind NOW, think about what it's gonna be like when you have EVERYONE blaming you for EVERYTHING that goes wrong.
Don't take my word for it; let's listen to your fellow Republican Florida-based POTUS candidate, who has some inside info on what it's like from both his father and brother:
“If this election is about how we’re going to fight to get nothing done, then I don’t want anything, I don’t want any part of it. I don’t want to be elected president to sit around and see gridlock just become so dominant that people literally are in decline in their lives. That is not my motivation. I’ve got a lot of really cool things I cold do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want that.”
