Received this e-mail today from former Governor Ted Strickland's (D. OH) U.S. Senate campaign:
I am a 3rd year junior at the University of Akron. I work full time all summer long and 30 hours a week during the school year on top of a full class schedule and homework. And like most Ohio students, I'll still graduate with tens of thousands of dollars in debt.
That's one of the reasons I am supporting Ted Strickland for U.S. Senate, and I am asking you to do the same -- because supporting Ted means supporting Ohio students.

As the oldest of four kids, I watched my mom struggle to provide for our family. Even today, part of my paycheck goes to help her take care of my baby sister. I am working hard to earn my degree to build a better life for myself.
But with close to an estimated $40,000 in debt when I graduate, it’s scary just to think how I will pay rent and afford food, let alone buy a house and start a family of my own.
I know Ted will fight for students like me and families like mine in the U.S. Senate because he's been in our shoes. But even growing up in a working class family that sometimes struggled to get by, Ted was able to work his way to be the first in his family to go to college. He knows it's even harder for Ohio families today. And he wants to make sure all Ohioans have the same opportunity he did to succeed.
As Governor, Ted kept Ohio tuition increases to the lowest rate in the country and at the same time, he increased enrollment by nearly 20 percent. Ted will take that experience to the U.S. Senate where he'll vote to lower interest rates for students like me, make community college free for anyone willing to work, and help move the country toward debt-free college.
Ted's opponent, Senator Rob Portman, had the chance to vote for students like me. But, he sided with millionaires at my expense.
Ted understands the emotional and economic toll student debt takes on all of us. And he's ready to do something about it.
So join me in standing with Ted to give Ohio students a fighting chance.
