On Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen testified at the semi-annual House Financial Services Committee Hearing on the Federal Reserve's Supervision and Regulation of the Financial System on monetary policy and bank regulation and supervision. She told committee members the U.S. economy was performing well and that an interest rate rise could happen in December following the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, if data supports an increase. Much of the hearing focused on the central bank’s regulatory powers under the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial regulations law.
However things took a turn for the insane when Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA30 Los Angeles) to Fed Chair Janet Yellen on interest rates: "God's plan is not for things to rise in the autumn. As a matter of a fact, that's why we call it fall. Nor is it God's plan for things to rise in the winter through the snow. God's plan is that things rise in the spring. So, if you want to be good with the Almighty, you might want to delay until May."
