A few days ago, the Japanese space agency JAXA released their global temperature data for October, and it was so way out of line that you had to be a bit skeptical. According to them, October was not just hot, but it was very hot. Here’s all the Octobers in the JAXA record:
Then yesterday, NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS) came out with their data for October, and it shows the same thing:
Using annual averages, and 2015-to-date (including October), we get this:
Not only is October the hottest month on record, but 2015 is still shaping up to easily be the hottest year on record too. Over at HotWhopper, Sou keeps a monthly “horse-race” graph that shows year-to-date temps month by month, with different colored lines for each year:
Of course, 2015 is a strong El Niño year, so next year is likely to be a bit cooler. How long will it be before we hear the deniers wail: “Global warming stopped in 2015!”?
