In no way to minimize the threat, yes, no doubt the deluge of Middle Eastern refugees has provided a great opportunity for Isis infiltration of the West. However, we already seem to have an abundance of homegrown (think globally, infiltrate locally)?
But can anyone guide me to any discussion you’ve seen about this same wave of humanity offering a bonanza of ready recruits, who would have the motivation and best ability to re-infiltrate the Caliphate in areas it now controls?
I’ll bet that’s also been at least the subject of water cooler talk within the western intelligence services. It’s not exactly that we are overflowing with a full quota of Arabic speakers of local dialects from Isis-held areas as intelligence assets on the ground that everybody says should be a growth industry here – or just as agents for counter-propaganda? It’s not enough just to try it with outsiders from other Arabic countries. Who do you think we’d be looking to first to identify potential domestic jihadists emanating from their own number, or to act as faux jihadists to weed out potential bombers? Has anybody talked with the Israelis about how effective this can be?
Seriously, I’d like to see some thinking on that.
