U.S. Marine veteran, Sergeant Tayyib Rashid, is fed up with the dangerously bigoted, anti-Muslim Donald Trump. Trump insinuated that U.S. Muslims should carry special identification—sort of like how Jews were required to wear big yellow stars as identification in World War II, right before millions were slaughtered in concentration camps.
In response to Trump, Sergeant Rashid posted a picture of his military ID on Twitter, with the words:
“I’m an American Muslim and I already carry a special ID badge. Where’s yours?”
To many of us, it’s no surprise to find Donald Trump never served in the military. He was a draft dodger—oh, sorry. I mean he was deferred from going to war four times, opting for college. Later he was medically disqualified to serve. The point is—Trump is a hypocrite, among other things.
There are too many that stand alongside Donald Trump when it comes to anti-Muslim sentiment. And most seem to be Fox-watching, Limbaugh-listening, racist right-wing extremists. Imagine that for a president.
Thank you, Sergeant Rashid, for your powerful voice—and for your service to this country.
