We have questions, like: How did this line get here?
Why can't I move the image up to this line? I mean, I can and I did, but then it opened up a new blank line at the top of the diary. So I put a question in it.

Let the wailing and gnashing of teeth and demands for answers begin below the story break
Here is a weird one: you can't type "watch " in a comment or diary. It disappears as soon as you type the space after it. I had to type "watc h " with a space after, and then go back and delete the space inside the word. Or type "watch " and watch it disappear, and then undo with control-z and continue typing.
Similarly for watch. watch, watch/ and watch[enter], which produce

including that last blank line. But not any other characters so far, as in watching, for example. I mean, OK, if it were a disappearing fnord, sure, but that gives no trouble. fnord fnord fnord
Some Resources
Many questions have been answered, but by no means all.
The Helpdesk has a section,
Help! I can't figure out how to do X,Y,Z in this new design!
Such as:
[Tab inside a blockquote]
[as often as you like]
-
How do I embed a video in a comment? [Diary on embedding video, images, sound, and more linked below]
-
How do I add an image from another site? [Ditto]
and also sections for reporting bugs and making feature requests.
The DK5 Manuals group has a nearly completed draft Reference Manual. There are some features that were not operating in the Beta that we have to finish up, and various bibs and bobs that staff were too busy to give answers to. Also, the User Profile pages are unchanged from DK4, so we left that chapter for last.
Search for diaries and comments was borked in the Beta, and is currently borked here. I assume that getting it back up is a high priority.
There are some diaries in the Beta explaining and demonstrating the new features. There will be more here.

Thanks, elfling. Now get some well-deserved rest.
Hints
There will be whole diaries on some of these topics, drawing on the material in the Reference Manual, and whatever else we can find out now that we are live.
- We hope that the new toolbars in the Story and Comment editors are self-explanatory, especially with the tooltips provided, but that never works for everybody, and there are always hidden features. Feel free to ask.
- For example, you can't get multiple levels of superscripts with the T1 button, but you can like this: xy th . 1st 2nd 3rd 4th all convert to superscripts automatically, and th converts anywhere. th th th
- Also, you can paste in math from elsewhere.
- We hope that the new table editor makes sense, too, at least for simple layouts.
- We know that HTML does not make sense. (There is an approved list of tags, but so far you have to paste in HTML, not write it in either of the editors. Pasting from some sources into some browsers works, and in other cases not.)
- Your Hotlist has been brought over, but you can no longer add to it.
- You have one week to copy Beta diaries to the live site before they turn into pumpkins.
- Anything else that exists only in the Beta will also disappear in a week.
- Those little orange dots next to comments indicate that the software regards those comments as new and unread, even if you see them on your screen. When you highlight a comment with an orange box around it the dot disappears.
- You can navigate comments with the keyboard, moving the highlight from one to another, and perform other actions on comments.
- j next unread comment
- k previous unread comment
- J next comment, read or not
- K previous comment
- o toggle to minimize or restore comment thread
- f recommend
- r reply
- Ooh, nested bullets! Apply bullets, then use the Increase Indent button or Control-> (Control-Shift-.)
- Hover on the commenter's name to see profile information.
- Click the name of the person replied to to go to the parent comment.
- Hover on the star to see who recommended a comment.
- You can't see who flagged a comment, in order to reduce piling on, kos hopes. Flagging is the new word for DK4 Hide-Rating (HR) and DK3 troll rating and donutting.
- "Contentious" comments near to being hidden or just uprated and rescued from being hidden are marked with an orange underline below the recommend and flag buttons.
Some bugs got gooshed in the changeover, like duplicated bullets in freshly published stories, but others have appeared, like images overlaying the toolbar in the story editor, making tools inaccessible.
Now, have at it
- What do you love?
- What do you hate?
- What can't you find?
- What do you see, but not understand?
- What does not work in your browser on your OS? (Tell us which they are.)
- Which among our illustrations do not illustrate, and our explanations not explain?
