It's finally happening—the right is dividing amongst itself and Rush Limbaugh has landed solidly on the side of Ted Cruz.
During his radio show Monday, Limbaugh came to the defense of Cruz, whom Donald Trump had criticized over the weekend as being a "maniac" due to the way he's conducted himself in the Senate. If anything can actually throw some cold water on Donald Trump's extended run in the sun, this is it.
Trump told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday” that Cruz does not have the “right temperament” to be president. “You can’t walk into the Senate, and scream and call people liars and not be able to cajole and get along with people,” he said. “He’ll never get anything done.”
Limbaugh reacted, “Doesn’t that kind of describe the way Trump has been dealing with people he disagrees with?”
“I mean, even calling them stupid? He’s been calling them incompetent. He’s been saying you can’t get anything done with these people.”
“But even [Trump supporters] who are not particularly aligned with Cruz have gotta be curious about this, because this is no different than what the media would say about Ted Cruz. This is no different than what the Democrat Party would say. I mean, this what the Republican establishment would say, for crying out loud.”
Heh, Trump's now a tool of the GOP establishment. Ouch!
The media has been predicting Trump’s demise for months—his swipe against John McCain, his hurling epithets, his Muslim ban. Turns out, none of that mattered. But Limbaugh just might, and this is pretty great. It has all the makings of a right-wing food fight where all the radio nut jobs out-bluster each other, choose sides, and tear down a tea party darling in the process (whether it’s Trump or Cruz). Yum!
