We know this about Trump.
1) He has no allegiances, just tools. The Donald is all about The Donald.
2) The plutocrats hate him. They are trying with all their cash to replace him.
3) The Donald never forgets.
The smartest thing President Trump could do is destroy the plutocrats.
a) Citizens United, and its offspring, are anti-Trump, and would be a major obstacle in him getting s second term. Trump is a populist — he doesn’t need big campaign funds — he needs to keep others from getting them.
b) The 1% is exactly the minority he needs. Remove their money, and the 1% is a very tiny voting block.. A reviled tiny voting block. Trump could get bipartisan support for any measures that would limit or remove the power of the overly rich — and slime any congressman or pundit who supports them. He can reasonably blame just about everything on them, and garner big support against his only really dangerous rivals.
c) Unlike ISIS and immigrants, these enemies have names. He could show himself making a difference by throwing a billionaire to the lions (ie. arresting them) on a regular basis. There are just enough of them to let him crush one whenever his support starts flagging, or his base need some red meat.
As president, Trump would have access to power and authority he doesn’t need Congress or Courts to employ — and he has the chutzpah to use them, so long and the horde applaud, which they would. He could tax them, he could nationalize their businesses (Imagine if he declared the telecom system to be vital to national security, or a public utility to be run by government.), he could investigate their practices. He could put an end to corporate welfare — and he would personally benefit from ALL these practices, because his own fortunes would not be affected. He might even have the moxie to buy up the companies of disgraced rivals!
Plus, he would be beloved, cruise to an easy re-election, and be praised by history. What’s not to love?
