I could write a book on Christian hypocrisy in America. But for the sake of time I’m going to make this argument short and sweet.
Conservative Christians are really good at picking and choosing what part of God’s and Jesus’ rules and commandments they follow. When it comes to hating and discriminating against gays, conservative Christians are about their Bible. And yes, the Bible is pretty clear about hating gays:
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Leviticus 20:13
I must say, that’s pretty damn clear. The Bible is pretty damn clear about some other things as well, like divorce:
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Mathew 19:9
That’s pretty clear. In Jesus’ own words he says that a man who divorces his wife, for any reason other than her adultery, and then remarries, is violating one of the Ten Commandments. Even homosexuality doesn’t make it into God’s top ten worst things list!
Of course there many, many other “abominations” which today’s conservative Christians choose to ignore, while focusing like a laser on the anti-gay passages of the Bible.
So for the so-called “Christians” that use the Bible to vilify, hate and discriminate against LGBT people, yet conveniently ignore such laws against divorce and remarriage. I have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that you do not care what the Bible says, or What Would Jesus Do.
So please, take your so-called “religious freedom” to hate, and your phony selective Christianity, and stick it up your ass.
