When my wife got the word that her cancer was terminal she set forth to get our bills and stuff in order so it would be easier for me after she left .One of the things she organized was a notebook that had all the due dates and things i would need after she died. One of those things was her life insurance policy and taped to the back was a poem she wrote dated from the day we found out it was terminal. It was ment to be found after the fact when she new I would be sad .Every Time i read it it makes me smile and cry at the same time
MOM's Poem by ELLIE HUNTER
come,come howl with me
we will go places we want to be
delve down into a cavern unfound
with all sanity abound
dance with the fairies on silvery leaves
along the twilights fiery seas
sleep with the dragons in the leaves
run with the unicorns along the the sunset green
among the poplars tall and lean
battle with the banshee besides the fairies stead
next to the quarries geed
come come howl with me
we will go to places we want to be
so much to learn and see
to our breast we will cleave
I really don't know if its any good .Im not well educated in such things its just that it was a private thing for her to write and share one of her poems .I only received a couple of them in 25 years and this was special .I only wish I could have thanked her for it but I cant so I thought the next best thing was to publish it here she would have been excited to see it in print, I love you ell
