The unfolding investigation into the poisoning of Flint Michigan’s water supply (you are the best Dr. Maddow) seems to confirm what most of us Liberals already new about the majority of Conservative Politicians.
-
They are ruthless, ambitious and have no loyalty beyond their own self-interest (even for other conservatives).
-
They view Government and taxpayer money as a source of income.
-
They do not care if they break the law as long as they do not break Heinlein’s 11th Commandment.
-
They are NOT VERY SMART.
The last bullet point is capitalized because it is the most puzzling aspect of this entire disaster unfolding in Flynt: nobody who achieves a position as the Chief executive of a state could be that stupid. Could they?
Let us hypothesize a few basic idea’s that were running through the mind of little Rick and his administration.
First off we assume he did not give a damn about local control of government or if the people of Flint got sick or died.
We can even assume that the people in charge of departments that require a high degree of scientific expertise did not have any (hey, it is a similar situation when the R’s control Congress).
We can even assume that they view Public Assets as private sources of revenue and that only the absolute minimum amount of money should be spent on public services.
What I find most puzzling is that even if the above is true (I think it is) didn’t the Snyder Administration and his cronies realize that they could end up going to Federal prison for this stupidity? Is there another answer? Or is the title of this diary essentially true?
They really, REALLY are not very smart….
