The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. |
Castro Valley, CA, 1/1/2016 thru 1/14/2016
Actually, it's mostly my yard and environs and only the first part of January, but such is life.
Weather: The temperatures didn't get out of the fifties until the 12th, when they got to 61. That was the only day above the fifties through the 14th, and it had rained or drizzled for 7 of those 14 days. Several days of frost too.
Foliage and such: We have a ton of oranges and lemons at various stages of ripeness and lots of chard. Beyond that plants in bloom =
Rear Milkweed

Three of these are blooming, I don't know what they are. Frost covers are still up.
