Wow! it’s all over the morning news and weather — big storm hitting the east coast. It even got named! Forecasters had the front passing thru the Gulf Coast of Florida early and dang if I didn’t wake to lightening at 5 AM. A quick look at the iPhone to check radar showed an hour before the front hit, but I got up anyways. I saw the TV headlines while waiting for the coffee to start and then unplugged electronics. You never know about lightening in Florida.
Tornado warnings were up for the Apalachicola River area but it looked like that was closer to the coast. I thought about anyone camping at Torreya State Park, maybe in a tent on the bluffs. Run, run for your car.
By 6 it was apparent that the intense trailer crossing the Panhandle was running out of energy. By 7 when folks in Tallahassee were getting up and heading off to work or school, the storm had petered out. Pretty much typical for winter storms around here but I got ½” in that ½ hour of rain.
So much for the Panhandle. I hear north Georgia is getting snow, and Aunt Jackie up in the Va mountains is socked in for a few days. How about the rest of y’all farther north getting the worst of it? Check in if you can please. Photos of snow to your knees and cars sliding on ice are cool (kinda — wasn’t cool the time I was sliding down a hill on 1-81 at 60 MPH with a semi stopped right in my lane.) Be safe folks, stay home if you can!
And The Daily Bucket is now open for comments…..
and I added pretty pictures below the fold
The twayblade down in the bottoms is getting bigger — if 1” counts as big.
This turtle was also down there visiting.
and finally, I couldn’t resist getting a closeup of these in the morning sun.
