In a piece titled ‘THE DFL IS ACCUSED OF TRYING TO SQUEEZE OUT BERNIE SANDERS SUPPORTERS IN MINNEAPOLIS’ (yes, in all caps!), the Minneapolis/St. Paul weekly the City Pages follows up on the caucus planning problems I discovered last week in DFL Senate District 62, South Minneapolis.
The story now needs and update, and obviously to be carried in bigger media to reach more Minneapolis residents who will be caucusing uphill, both ways, this time.
There is a partial remedy in place for the Whittier caucus location, and I will find out more tonight. The gist of the remedy is that Stevens Square, Ward 6 Precinct 9 will have its own caucus location, conveniently in the polling place they use in the General Election, so that will reduce chaos, confusion and and congestion significantly for two Minneapolis super precincts (literally thousands of Minneapolis DFLers). SD62 DFL is still looking for volunteers to help out on caucus night. The co-location of many precincts at other caucus sites elsewhere in the district pose some hurdles for people with limited mobility or limited budgets, so think about carpooling with friends and neighbors, parking further away from these sites if you are able bodied to let car-pools, disabled and elderly folks use the on site parking at some of these schools.
Update: The Minnesota DFL Chair Ken Martin has issued a press release in response to the City Pages article
