This is what America is truly about—“We The People” fighting for the rights our forefathers and foremothers died to gain and maintain. In North Carolina and around the country those rights are being infringed upon by racist, misogynistic, and bigoted Republican lawmakers who are trying to suppress the people in order to serve the rich and powerful 1%. The people of North Carolina will have none of it, they are fired up, and they refuse to take one step back.
Here are two videos exemplifying the courage and spirit of the Moral Monday movement. Their message of “Forward Together, Not One Step Back” is contagious and echoes far and wide. Other states are becoming curious and some are joining.
The first video below was premiered at the “2016 Moral March on Raleigh” in mid-February. This clip highlights the struggle for Voting Rights in North Carolina and includes comments from plaintiffs — including 94-year-old Rosanelle Eaton — who filed lawsuits against North Carolina's Governor Pat McCrory for new voter restriction laws McCrory passed in 2013 months after the Supreme Court gutted a discrimination by state clause from the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The video also highlights the legal analysis of the most recent court decision that conclusively ruled that Republicans had gerrymandered the state along racial lines.
If you’re not familiar with the Moral Monday movement, this second video captures much of the their message and true American spirit.
Cheers to the people of North Carolina and all over the county who fight for equal, civil, and human rights for all.f
