RWNJ’s who can’t abide the “populist” appeal of tRump have now tried to propose other means to Stop Trump by creating Electoral College Chaos. FoxNews / CNN’s Erick Erickson, that pile of Cheeto sweepings from the DailyCellar, is promoting ThrustTED’s continuing resistance to the Donald’s now clear path to the GOP POTUS nomination.
Erickson floated this idea to NPR in anticipation of a meeting of Stop Trump forces this week calling it a “third party alternative” which is probably only a means to try to drive delegate votes to our favorite Canadian Republican.
ErickSonofanErick’s desperation has regurgitated the image of the original Southern Strategy of the 1824 election where the House of Representatives selected POTUS except in our 2016 version, selective Electoral College chaos amplifies the current Congressional obstructive gridlock to create a baroque version of the Weimar Republic’s Chancellorial choice where the GOP VEEP becomes POTUS (Holy Godwin,Batman).
Another unintended consequence puts the POTUS election into the House of Representatives to solidify US plutocratic control of the political and economic levers of power.
The anti-plutocrat dog whistle in DK (as anti-Democratic party and/or Third-party heresy) can be supported by a variety of discourse about the decentralization and deregulation path to the capitalist meme of a minimal state.
One version is whether neoliberalism of the type supported by Third Way-DLC Democrats can prevail by negotiating a means to give plutocrats one avenue to power while providing less inequality.
Another version is the various institutional forces like the Koch Brothers and many other RW capitalist tools much like many pre-WWII America First nativist / crypto-fascists.
Bill Moyers writes: Robert Reich’s essay, “Trump The American Fascist,” reminded me that back in November Reich had posted as his “Quote of the Week” an excerpt from an April 9, 1944, speech by then Vice-President Henry Wallace. Let it sink in:
“The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity… They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.”
