Q to Sanders about whether he's a Democrat?
Sanders: why would I be running for the nomination? Mentions that he does better than Clinton against Trump in many polls. Says he's in the race as a Democrat and says Clinton might be "surprised" to learn that there's Independents in the country.
Sanders gets hit for not raising money for other Democrats in Congress when Clinton's raised around $15 million. Sanders says he's raised lots for the DSCC then segues in to helping the party by bringing lots of young people into the party.
Clinton responds that she's gotten 2.3 million more votes than Sanders and 1.4 million than Trump, says she's putting a diverse, broadbased coalition to win the presidency. She's proud of that. Adds that it's incredible that so many young people are getting so involved and applauds Bernie's campaign, but it will be important to unify the party once primary is over.
Sanders asked if he will try to win the nomination at the convention. Says that he got his clock cleaned in the deep south, but won 7 out of last 8 contests and excitement from working people—"I believe we're going to win this nomination."
Clinton notes she says a big lead in pledged delegates, more than what Obama had over her in '08. Clinton says "we are very confident and optimistic" but isn't taking anything for granted.
Sanders says reason that he's winning younger people by wide margins is that "establishment politics and big money interests" aren't going to be able to address our political ills in this country.
