The Mayor of San Francisco and the #Frisco5 hunger strikers finally had a conversation today, the fifteen day of their hunger strike demanding San Francisco’s Police Chief Greg Suhr resign and standing against police violence and racism.
It came after Tuesday’s protest march to City Hall where the Mayor magically disappeared instead of meeting with the strikers, to national attention and much criticism.
It did not go well.
The twitterverse has been alive to day with all the things that have happened under Suhr’s command, providing every reason for him to exit, stage right.
Yesterday, one of the hunger strikers had to go to the hospital.
Is Ed Lee really willing to have martyrs on his hands? To potentially have the City erupt, all because of misplaced confidence in a Police Chief who was in charge when his officers performed the firing squad execution of Mario Woods; who talked about de-escalation, then watched as his officers escalated instead, killing Luis Gongora, and then did nothing?
We may be finding out.
