Patty Judge has released a hard-hitting web ad calling out Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley's Supreme Court blockade. (Watch it below the fold.) This is after polling from the Center for American Progress, conducted by GBP strategies, shows Grassley's vulnerability on the issue. In the ad and an emailed press release, Judge hits the senior senator for putting the Republican party first, even if that means giving Donald Trump a Supreme Court nominee.
“After 35 years, Washington has changed Chuck Grassley. Instead of doing the job Iowa sent him there to do, he has become the face of obstruction – on the Supreme Court and so many other issues,” said Patty Judge. “Even now that Donald Trump is the final Republican candidate standing, Chuck Grassley refuses to hold hearings. We have to make a change and get the U.S. Senate back to work, that’s exactly why I’m running.” […]
“Washington’s broken and it needs to be fixed. We’re building the campaign to do that and I look forward to giving Chuck Grassley the race of his career,” added Judge.
Recent polling has Grassley with approval ratings well below 50 percent, down from his previous approval ratings of around 60 percent. In fact, as late as February, a Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll had him at 57 percent approval.
But as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Grassley is the focus of this blockade. And he hasn't been wearing the stress well, being bashed regularly by the media back home in Iowa. This makes him more vulnerable than he's been in his career, and Judge is poised to take advantage of that.
