Tim Canova, the primary challenger to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is running against the Iran Deal.
She’s Jewish; I’m not. But I’ve had a Jewish stepdad for 40 years, and I was a volunteer on a kibbutz. . . . And she voted for the Iran agreement,” he said. “Either she got duped by [Obama deputy national security adviser] Ben Rhodes or she was in on it.
Some of my best stepdads . . .
I’m not a big DWS fan, especially as DNC chair, but this kind of pandering by a Democrat is pretty terrible. In her heavily Jewish district, to her credit DWS voted for the deal (as did my Congressman, Jerry Nadler) despite enormous lobbying against it.
And to invoke “Ben Rhodes” makes it even worse. If you weren’t aware, based on a NY Times Magazine by an anti-Iran deal super hawk, “Ben Rhodes” has become a current-day Alinsky on the right — a sinister figure who “duped” others into the supporting the deal. For a Democrat to invoke a right wing meme like that is disgraceful.
As for the implications outside her district, the bedfellows are not just strange but hopelessly entangled in a cluster-**** — Sanders supports Canova, who is pandering on the Iran Deal, while putting Zogby and West (whom I imagine are big Deal supporters) on the platform committee).
As a Jewish, pro-Iran Deal, critic of DWS as DNC chair, it pisses me off.
