Politico:
Supporters of Bernie Sanders say they’ll file a legal challenge to the nomination of Gov. Andrew Cuomo as the chair of New York’s delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia and are refusing to recognize his authority.
The maneuver comes after a Tuesday meeting of the Democratic State Committee that erupted into shouts after party leaders nominated Cuomo, the state’s top-ranking Democrat and surrogate for Hillary Clinton, as the chair. Sanders supporters had hoped to have an up-or-down vote on Cuomo, but Mike Reich, the longtime party secretary, closed nominations before the Vermont senator’s supporters could advance a name.
As such, Cuomo was affirmed by a simple voice vote — not the full ballot that Sanders supporters hoped could show the depth of their dissent.
The piece goes on to quote Sanders delegates saying that that they would be filing a legal complaint and that Cuomo will not be recognized by the Sanders delegation.
