In this electoral season, tehDonald has pulled out (disputatio interruptus) of a GOP primary debate in March and a debate in May (with Bernie), the latter because it was “inappropriate”, even though it probably would have been to his benefit. In the former case, Trump tried to claim that the alternative event would be for charity which proved to be hinky, much like his other claims of philanthropy. More recently he attempted to claim that the NFL schedule might interfere with POTUS debates.
Some speculation has arisen that Trump would not debate Clinton because he might lose badly, as well as that such a withdrawal could be a tactic to ensure some general campaign exit with which he could extort money from the GOP as they scramble for a replacement.
In any case the media buzz would increase and Trump could still claim victory from a PR POV. A likely scenario could be to threaten a boycott due to a “rigged” process of the first or last debate with a boycott of the first date tied to Mike Pence replacing him and technically not losing the Veep debate date as a POTUS event. Or...a double header on the Veep date and he profits from an ad buy for the time slot between the two.
And of course this could all be part of a strategic plan to mount a civil suit claiming election fraud on a state or national level as he seeks another out-of-court settlement...Phase Three: Profit!
WHEN WILL TRUMP PULL OUT?
