The Trumpism, it's catching. You know Chuck Grassley? The guy who as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee has been refusing for 147 days to give President Obama's nominee to the Supreme Court a hearing? Here's how he describes that.
"Republicans and Democrats can work together. Bipartisanship has allowed us to make progress on good ideas from senators on both sides of the aisle," he said Saturday in the GOP’s weekly address. […]
"I decided early on that the Judiciary Committee would spend your taxpayer dollars and our time focusing on areas where we can reach an agreement, rather than political fights destined for failure," he said.
He added: "That is the dramatic change in the way business is done for you." That's the one part of his statement that's actually true. Never before has a Senate leadership blockaded a presidential Supreme Court nominee because they just didn't like the president. That's a dramatic change right there, but not the one Grassley would have you believe.
His Democratic opponent, Patty Judge, lost no time in responding. "Only someone who has been in Washington too long would pat himself on the back for leading unprecedented obstruction of judicial nominees," Judge said.
