Authorities, federal and local, were required to respond Sunday to approximately 1,500 people, many of them having taken brain-altering chemicals, making an illegal border crossing on Sunday afternoon, crossing the river on inflatable rafts and other assorted makeshift vessels. Fortunately, authorities were able to round up all the known illegals (even needing to rescue some who were in danger during their attempt to cross the river) and deport them back south of the border. A spokesman for one of the agencies who responded stated he wished authorities south of the border would do their part in stopping this type of dangerous border crossing.
