The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates announced Friday the moderators and the formats of the debates: three between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump and one vice presidential debate with Tim Kaine and Mike Pence.
The first debate is scheduled for September 26 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. NBC's Lester Holt will moderate. The 90 minute debate will have six 15-minute segments on major topics selected by Holt and provided to the candidates at least one week in advance. The second will be a townhall style, on October 9, will be jointly moderated by CNN's Anderson Cooper and ABC's Martha Raddatz and held at Washington University in St. Louis. Half of the questions will come from the audience, half from the moderators. Gallup will choose the "uncommitted" voters for participants.
Fox gets its chance in the third debate, October 19, with Chris Wallace moderating from Las Vegas, and it will follow the same format as the first. The vice presidential candidates get their chance on October 4, at Longwood University in Virginia. CBSN anchor Elaine Quijano will moderate, the "first anchor of a digital network to moderate a national debate in a general election campaign."
Now all the anticipation will be focused on whether Trump shows up.
