After nine years serving the United States overseas, my wife, our four boys and I chose to return to America this year and make a home in Bozeman, Montana. One of the most important factors in our decision was the quality of public education here.
Gov. Steve Bullock has been a key to ensuring quality public education in Montana. Our elementary, middle and high schools are better funded than ever and Montana high school graduation rates are at an all-time high. (Kudos also to Superintendent of Public Instruction and U.S. House candidate Denise Juneau for this progress. Donate to Denise here!)
With four children we hope to send to college, we are excited that Bullock’s leadership has enabled a doubling of dual enrollment allowing high school students to receive college credit. Tuition rates at Montana’s public colleges and universities have remained frozen since Steve Bullock became governor. Montana is now ranked best in the nation for keeping college tuition rates affordable.
In contrast, Bullock’s opponent fundamentally doesn’t believe that public education is the foundation to a growing economy and a vibrant democracy. Instead, Greg Gianforte has repeatedly supported moving public education funds to private institutions that can discriminate.
That is not the Montana where we want to make our home. And that’s an important reason why we will be casting our ballots as proud Montanans for Steve Bullock.
His rich, right wing opponent has put nearly $2 million of his own money into a negative, misleading campaign. Please donate to Team Bullock, so our Governor can keep fighting the good fight to protect and improve Montana’s public education.
