Received this e-mail today from Russ Feingold’s (D. WI) U.S. Senate campaign:
Friend,
This week, Senator Elizabeth Warren went toe-to-toe with the CEO of Wells Fargo in a committee hearing, shining a light on everything that's wrong with how Wall Street operates. She clearly struck a nerve -- because the video's been watched and shared millions of times.
During the hearing, Senator Warren called on the CEO of Wells Fargo to resign -- and I'm with her 100 percent.
I'm joining Senator Warren in calling on the CEO of Wells Fargo to resign. It's time for some accountability. If you're with us, add your name right now.
It's David vs. Goliath. The rich and powerful gamed the system, and thought they'd get away with it. Except, for once, they got caught.
For years, executives at Wells Fargo put their employees in a terrible position, pushing for unrealistic profits and creating a culture where anything goes -- just as long as the bank made money.
In this culture of corruption, the executives at the top got richer while customers got fleeced. Then, when they got caught, they pointed fingers at their employees to avoid any kind of responsibility.
The big banks and the billionaires who run them think the law doesn't apply to them. It's beyond wrong: It's disturbing. And it's time for accountability.
Enough is enough -- It's time to start setting this right. The first step is for the CEO of Wells Fargo to accept responsibility and resign. Add your voice next to mine and Senator Warren's if you agree.
Wall Street already has plenty of lackeys fighting for their interests in Congress. I'm running for the Senate because middle-class and working families need someone who'll fight for them.
It's up to progressives like us to hold their feet to the fire. Thanks for standing with me.
Sincerely,
Russ Feingold
