Desperate for a spot in Donald Trump’s administration if he is elected president, Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, has slunk to the level of a cesspool in his willingness to say anything to prove his loyalty.
Giuliani is eyeing the role of Trump’s attorney general if he’s elected in November, according to sources close to the process. And to campaign for it — after all, he’s got to beat Chris Christie — he’s giving the surrogate performance of a lifetime. Trump’s preferred policy of stop-and-frisk? Giuliani claims it brought about an 85-percent reduction in crime in New York City. Black Lives Matter? “Inherently racist.” And police relations? He’s holding a meet-and-greet for Trump with Cleveland’s police union Tuesday.
During a series of appearances on cable shows since Sunday, Giuliani has doubled-down on his remarks, specifically insulting women, and Hillary Clinton in general.
Highlights from the past few days include his comment that “everyone” commits marital infidelity and that Trump is an economic “genius” who is better for the United States “than a woman.”
Last week, he told an interviewer that Clinton was "too stupid to be president," given her defense of (her husband) Bill's cheating.
But someone who lives in a glass house (Giuliani has been married three times and announced the end of his second marriage at a press conference) should be careful about throwing stones. Clinton has no record of infidelity and has been married to the same person for 41 years.
