Aileen Cohen counts herself as one of the lucky ones: a breast cancer survivor. Her case was caught in time, so she's a particularly effective spokesperson for breast cancer screenings. She's also opposed to Rep. Joe Heck, the Republican running for Harry Reid's Senate seat in Nevada, precisely because he wants to defund Planned Parenthood and end the critical care so many women get there.
Here she is, talking about it in a DSCC ad for Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto.
I'm one of the lucky ones. I had breast cancer, but they caught it in time. There are many women who depend on Planned Parenthood for that kind of screening and care. So I'll never understand politicians like Congressman Heck who tried to defund Planned Parenthood.
He was even willing to shut down the government over it.
Heck was opposed to Roe v. Wade and tried to criminalize abortion. That's just shameful. It's just wrong. It doesn't help anybody. Congressman Heck does not share my values.
Watch the ad below.
Planned Parenthood treats around 22,000 patients in Nevada every year, including providing cancer screenings, and Heck makes no bones about wanting to take federal funding away from Planned Parenthood—treatment away from all those Nevadans. And yes, Heck was right there in September 2015 with his Republican colleagues, threatening to shut down government funding to Planned Parenthood. Heck also wants another Scalia on the Supreme Court, one who would be willing to overturn Roe v. Wade.
He's the last thing Nevada's women—the nation's women!—need in the Senate. We have plenty of those guys already, thanks.
Can you pitch in with $3 to help Catherine Cortez Masto beat Joe Heck, and the Kochs?
Senator Harry Reid is retiring. We must keep this seat in Democratic hands with Catherine Cortez Masto. Click here to volunteer on the ground in Nevada today.
