Two years ago, I dug a shallow 25 foot long creek, and positioned a waterfall at one end. A fish-free pond at the other end provides breeding habitat for the Pacific Tree Frog.
The Backyard Science group features The Daily Bucket. You may lose, and you may win, but we’ll never ride this cycle of life again. Please let us know what goes on around you in a comment, or even write your own Bucket! Your weather, what birdies are at the feeder, a pretty rock along your favorite trail, how the waxing moon looked half-hidden by clouds, and more are all fine topics. Please include the general area where you are located. Each note records a reference for the future, as we try to understand the bounties before us.
I am restless, and my mate Salmonwoman encourages those reckless landscaping tendencies. This year I remodeled the waterfall area, moved the falls back into a fence corner, and added another small pond for the frogs.
Viola, a Bucket.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN
Anything hopping or fluttering in your back yard? What have you noted in your area or travels? As usual, please post your observations and the general location in your comments. I’ll respond during the afternoon, in between working on an endless list of garden chores.
"Spotlight on Green News & Views" will be posted every Saturday at 5pm Pacific Time and every Wednesday at 3:30 Pacific Time on the Daily Kos front page. Be sure to recommend and comment in the diary.
