This is getting interesting! The Yoho Pirate has been pillaging around in Congress since 2012. Maybe he hasn’t been doing it very well. All you have to do is to look at where his bankbook is three weeks out from election day.
One of the big reasons that it is so goddamn hard to get rid on an incumbent is the built in campaign cash advantage. They go to Congress, they do the Master’s (and I don’t mean the “people”) bidding, and they build up a fat war chest for their re-election campaign. Challengers can be buried in advertising and mailers by a well funded incumbent. This was the problem that Ken McGurn faced here.
Maybe not so much anymore. According to an ARTICLE in FloridaPolitics.com, Ken McGurn, since August 11 has brought in $215,000, while Yoho managed to pull in only $71,000. Is Yoho losing his “star power”, or is he just cocky and cruising, thinking this is in the bag?
Let me be clear, we are not out of the woods here. Yoho started out with a huge advantage, and still has $450,000 in the bank. But with his fundraising haul, McGurn now has $302,000 in the bank for the last 30 days, so he won’t be overwhelmed on the air or in mailers, he can compete much more evenly. But we can’t stop, this is still an uphill battle, and Ken needs all of the help he can get to get this done, and send “The Pirate” to the brig.
You have another chance to see Ken McGurn live. On Sunday 10/23 there will be a candidate forum for district offices that starts at 1:30 p.m.. The Congressional candidates are scheduled to start speaking at about 2:35 p.m.. Here’s the details;
1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
Alachua County Library District, Headquarters Branch
401 E University Avenue,
Gainesville, FL 32601
O.K. Super Troopers, it’s crunch time. This is a decidedly Red leaning district, but Trump is a drag, and Yoho is supporting The Orange Julius. Trumpaholics will still show up to vote, but if “sane” Republicans flip over or stay home, it may not be enough for Yoho. We need to get every single Democratic voter out to the polls. Ken McGurn is listed on the august 90for90.org. To learn more about Ken, go HERE. If you want to donate, click HERE. And to volunteer for the home stretch, go HERE. So, let’s “Git ‘er DONE”!
Thanks as always for reading, and GO Blue!
