Who could have predicted that the 2016 Election Season would top 2012 for sheer bombastic trainwreckery? Herman Cain, Michelle Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum — a veritable rogues gallery of ignorance, theocracy, audacity, and well, more theocracy. And that was only a third of the dozen reprobates vying for the presidency from the Republican stable. But none of them could lie and fearmonger like Trump. Not even as a deranged Voltron spewing the benefits of trickle-down economics or lies about Obamacare could they hope to best the champion of fear and anger. None of them made hypocrisy a staple like Trump. None of them made insulting others a bloodsport like Trump. None of them could compare to his encyclopedic history of bigoted, fascist, hypocritical, and narcissistic comments. None could come even close to the the same universe of litigious affairs as Trump. None could hope to hold a candle to the level of misogyny demonstrated by Trump. None had the stench of sexual predation hanging over their campaign.
This election season has truly been a black mark on American history, a shameful chapter whose main antagonist was a demagogue hell-bent on proving to the country that he alone could fix it. But despite his enablers’ best efforts to mask the odor of unapologetic incitements of violence, criminal behavior, and rank disrespect of our military and nearly everyone else who doesn’t swear fealty to him or his campaign, Trump still has a non-zero chance of winning this election — despite the absolutely unprecedented litany of detractors he has amassed over nearly 40 years in the public eye.
Here is a massive list of those detractors, categorized by the type of offense, but it is by no means exhaustive, for as this list is being written, more lies are being spewed, more hatred is being sewn into the psyche of Trump’s supporters, and more fear is being cooked into an unruly mob who may not go quietly in the night should Trump lose the election. This is our reminder that Donald J. Trump is the worst presidential candidate to ever seek the White House.
Note: Many of these items can fall into several categories, so I picked the most appropriate category I could. Your mileage may vary.
Bigotry
The Right has seen a growth of white nationalist groups since 2009 when Barack Obama became president. No one could have predicted that a candidate sympathetic to their cause would have become the Republican Nominee for President.
1. He does not like it when black men handle his money
2. He regularly retweets white supremacists.
3. He has retweeted anti-Semitic symbols.
4. He believes that Mexico is sending rapists and drug dealers to the United States, which is false.
5. He made blatantly racist remarks about a judge in charge of his fake university scam legal proceedings.
6. He tried to say that Pequot Native-Americans were not really Native-Americans.
7. He claimed that the mother of a fallen U.S. soldier was not allowed to speak because she was Muslim.
8. He called Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas".
9. He retweeted “Jeb Bush has to like the Mexican Illegals because of his wife.” Note: The tweet was later deleted.
Birtherism
Trump started to see the allure of politics after falsely claiming that Barack Obama was born in Kenya rather than Hawaii. He was able to secure a posse of investigators, including Joe Arpaio, who would do his bidding with the hopes of knocking off the country’s first African-American president. He had countless interviews questioning the validity of Obama’s birth certificate, and he kept up the ruse for years before an ambivalent Trump seemingly put the issue to rest in 2016. But it may have been the linchpin to build Trump’s support among the nascent Alt-Right adherents in conservative circles.
10. He has repeatedly and falsely claimed Barack Obama was not born in the United States, as if it would matter since his mother was a U.S. Citizen.
11. He falsely claimed that Obama’s grandmother said Barack Obama was born in Kenya.
12. He falsely claimed that Clinton’s top advisers were pushing the birther issue in 2008.
Business Failings
One of Trump’s main selling points — as spoken by Trump — is that he is a masterful businessman, a captain of industry, a magnate beyond reproach. Even though someone has presumably told Trump that running a country is somewhat different than running a business, he continues to tout his business acumen despite overwhelming evidence that it is highly overstated.
13. He has failed to pay hundreds of contractors.
14. He has had at least 4 bankruptcies.
15. Trump Steaks were a failure.
16. Trump Airlines was a failure.
17. Trump Vodka was a failure.
18. GoTrump.com was a failure.
19. Trump Magazine was a failure.
20. Trump Mortgage was a failure.
21. Trump: The Game was a failure.
Conspiracy Theorist
Poe’s Law states “Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humour, it is impossible to create a parody of fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing.” While the application of this law was rife in internet forums during the rise of the Tea Party, it never had a constant champion in political theater until Trump came along. Sure, Michele Bachmann would occasionally spin some yarn found on Infowars.com that morning, but it almost seems like Trump uses conspiracy sites for his daily briefings, and having Alex Jones from Infowars.com doesn’t help his cause.
These people, however, are not random internet posters. Trump is running for president, not looking to troll a gullible liberal on a Yahoo.com Comments section. So he either believes it, or he knows his rank-and-file will believe it.
22. He falsely claimed that the Chinese perpetuated the climate change hoax.
23. He falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton was trying to rig debates by having them go up against NFL games.
24. He falsely claimed that Ted Cruz’s father was with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before LHO shot JFK.
25. He falsely claimed that the Colorado GOP caucus was rigged.
26. He claims Bill Ayers wrote Obama’s book “Dreams of my Father”.
27. He claims that Obama would go after conservative media because of Net Neutrality.
28. He claims that Obama’s wedding ring has an Arabic inscription on it, when in reality, it’s just a series of loops.
29. He raised suspicions about a conspiracy to have Antonin Scalia killed.
30. He claims that Hillary Clinton meets secretly with banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty.
Criminal Behavior
Conservatives spend an inordinate amount of time complaining about Benghazi and Email, and Trump supporters take it a step farther when they chant “Lock her up!” and “Hang the B*tch!” at his rallies. But both never-ending investigations eventually ended, not with a boom but a whimper, and no criminal charges were filed against Hillary Clinton. Her opposition, however, has a long sordid history with the law which has seen him fined time and time again. To date, Trump has not seen a conviction worthy of incarceration, but at least one open criminal case may change that in the future.
31. He paid a $30,000 fine for violating gambling rules.
32. He had business dealings with Cuba during the embargo.
33. He has a charity that was shut down by the New York State Attorney General for being fraudulent.
34. He created a fake university that scammed people that is now under investigation.
35. He was fined $75000 by the FTC for anti-trust violations.
36. He paid $250,000 to settle fines related to charges brought by New York State Lobbying Commission director David Grandeau.
37. He bribed (using his Trump Organization) a Florida State attorney general to make legal proceedings during the fake university investigation go away.
38. He was sued by the DOJ for violating fair housing practices.
Crudeness
One would think that an office holder of the highest office in the land should have at least one iota of dignity. At least 40% of our electorate does not seem to care that he doesn’t. Here are just a few examples of Trump’s vulgarity, while most other examples fall into the “Insult” category below.
39. He has mocked a disabled reporter.
40. He said during a post-primary debate interview that Fox News host Megyn Kelly had blood coming out of her whatever.
41. He said “Who the f*ck knows? I mean, really, who knows how much the Japs will pay for Manhattan property these days?” (Time, January 1989)
Delusional
Alternative filings could also be under “Lying” or “Narcissism”, but one could claim that narcissistic lying is one of the hallmarks of a delusional individual.
42. He said “I don’t have a racist bone in my body.”
43. He said “I’m leading in the Hispanic vote, and I’m going to win the Hispanic vote. I’m also leading in the regular vote.”
44. He said “I cherish women. I want to help women. I’m going to be able to do things for women that no other candidate would be able to do … ”.
45. He said “I will be so good to women.”
46. He said “I will be phenomenal to the women. I mean, I want to help women.”
47. He said “I certainly don’t incite violence and… I don’t condone violence”
48. He said “I think I am a nice person. People who know me like me.”
Deplorables
They might not actually “be” Trump, but he sired and/or hired them. And with few exceptions, he keeps them around despite the horrendous things they say or do.
Non-Family Deplorables
49. A Trump spokesperson said Capt. Khan got killed because of Obama in 2004 when Obama wasn't even a US Senator.
50. He has known mob ties.
51. A Trump spokesperson, citing a debunked blog post, said that Obama only won in NC in 2008 because of voter fraud.
52. His surrogate Rudy Giuliani defends him against claims of Birtherism.
53. A surrogate sent a threatening email to a delegate.
54. His butler calls for Obama to be killed for treason.
55. A surrogate fabricated many parts of his biography.
56. Former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski grabbed Michelle Fields from Breitbart at a campaign rally and never apologized for it.
57. His campaign CEO was once charged for domestic violence.
58. His campaign CEO has made anti-Semitic remarks regarding where to send his daughters to private school.
59. Surrogate Chris Christie was involved with (and knew about) the Fort Lee GW bridge closures.
Family Deplorables
60. His children claim he came from nothing even though he got a $1 million from his father to start businesses and much more when he died.
61. His son Eric just explained away the “grab them by the p***y” video as his father having an “alpha” personality.
62. His son Don Jr. likened refugees to a bowl of Skittles, using a photograph taken by a refugee and using an improper scale to suggest how many refugees were actually terrorists.
63. His son Don Jr. said “They’ve let her slide on every in discrepancy, on every lie, on every DNC game trying to get Bernie Sanders out of this thing,” he continued. “If Republicans were doing that, they’d be warming up the gas chamber right now.”
64. On the day in 2012 when a gunman killed a dozen people in an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater, Trump Jr. appeared on satellite radio’s “Opie and Anthony.” The hosts played a recording of a witness describing the carnage, to which Don Jr. exclaimed, “Overall, I give the movie two thumbs up!”
Disrespect to Military / Veterans
Trump doesn’t seem to care that these men and women fight for our country. It shows an awful deficit of character to mock generals, spurn P.O.W.s, diminish the value of the the purple heart (which my father has earned with his blood), and the entire veteran establishment.
65. He has mocked John McCain for being captured during Vietnam.
66. He said “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier” after it was given to him.
67. He promised to give $1 million in fundraising to military veterans groups but didn’t do so until the media called him out on it.
68. He claims he was given the biggest award by the Marines, but it was only after a $100,000 donation.
69. He said he knows more about ISIS than U.S. generals do.
Fascism
While this is probably the smallest category of offenses, it is by far the most troubling and dangerous. We have fought a World War over fascism, and its end game: genocide. While Trump has not gone so far as to discuss a Final Solution for addressing the minuscule instances of Islamic terror on U.S. soil, everything begins with a first step. Once that first step has been normalized, then you move the Overton Window just a little bit. For these 3 reasons below alone, Trump must not become president.
70. He wants to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.
71. He has suggested creating a database of all Muslims in the United States, echoing fascist Nazi Germany and a clear violation of the U.S. Constitution.
72. He wants to monitor mosques in the United States.
Fearmongering
These comments could easily be filed in the “Lying” category, but their deceit is more pernicious than the other casual lies Trump tells his followers. These lies prey on the ill-informed and the fearful, and what is more dangerous than an ill-informed and fearful voter? Trump’s own slogan “Make America Great Again” concedes that America is not currently great, and while that is open for interpretation, Trump’s fear-laden lies only reinforce the idea.
73. He lied and said he saw thousands of Muslims in the US celebrating on 9/11.
74. He falsely claimed that the U.S. election system is rigged.
75. He falsely claims that the 2016 omnibus spending bill funds illegal immigrants coming across the AZ border with Mexico.
76. He falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton would bring in 620,000 Syrian refugees in her first term.
77. He falsely claimed that ISIS is making millions of dollar a week selling Libyan oil.
78. He has falsely claimed that 2nd and 3rd generation Muslim-Americans do not assimilate.
79. He falsely claimed that the man who rushed him at an Ohio rally had some chatter with ISIS.
80. He falsely claimed that there is no system to vet refugees from the Middle East.
81. He falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton wants to release violent prisoners from jail.
82. He has falsely claimed that Obama and Hillary Clinton co-founded ISIS.
83. He has retweeted false crime statistics.
84. He falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton wants to abolish the second amendment.
85. He claimed on Twitter that Obama would start a war to win the 2012 election.
86. He falsely claimed that President Obama wants to take in 250,000 Syrian refugees.
Greed
87. He said “It’s very possible that I could be the first presidential candidate to run and make money on it.”
88. His campaign constantly uses its funds to enrich the Trump family, such as purchasing $55000 worth of his own book.
89. The Trump Organization jacked up the price of rent to the Trump campaign in order to enrich the Trump family.
90. He engaged in tenant intimidation in 1981 including cutting off water and heat so that he could snatch up their properties.
91. He said in 2006 that he was hoping for a real estate crash.
Hypocrisy
‘Do as I say, not as I do’ must have been a guiding principle in the Trump household during Donald’s formative years. It certainly has been in the 2016 election.
92. He has used illegal immigrants to work on his properties.
93. He rails on companies sending business overseas and then makes many of his products overseas.
94. He has railed on Twitter about people not paying taxes but then has not (he has insinuated this to be the case) paid taxes in nearly 2 decades.
95. He constantly makes note of Bill Clinton’s sex scandals as if they are somehow worse than his. It should also be noted, Bill Clinton is not running for president in 2016.
96. His modeling agency violated immigration policy.
97. He has bashed Ford Motor Company for investing in factories in Mexico while he himself has invested in countless hotel properties overseas.
98. He claims the Clinton Foundation is a vast criminal enterprise but he gave money to it in 2009, and not through his own accounts, but through the Trump Foundation. Note: The Clinton Foundation gets an “A” from Charity Navigator while the Trump Foundation has been barred in NY state from operation because of alleged fraud.
Ignorance
“I love the poorly educated!” Trump once proclaimed at a Nevada rally. Given his penchant for Bond villain narcissism, he has probably said this in front of a mirror too.
99. He thinks most immigrants commit crime even though they commit less than citizens.
100. He made a rambling, unintelligible rant about “The Cyber”.
101. He does not know basic foreign policy such as the fact that Russia did invade the Ukraine (Crimea) in 2014.
102. He doesn’t know much about anything in the Bible and blames others for his lack of knowledge.
103. He has referred to someone as "my African-American".
104. He has no idea what the nuclear triad is.
105. He has repeatedly asked why he can’t use nukes.
106. He quotes non-scientific polls when claiming victories at debates.
107. He tweeted that because it was raining and snowing in New York, we need global warming.
108. He had his son Don Jr. speak to the Kasich campaign about Gov. Kasich running both foreign and domestic policy as the VP. Kasich asked what Don Jr.’s father would be charge of? Don Jr. responded with “Making America Great Again”.
109. He does not understand global warming.
110. He is an anti-vaccination proponent despite overwhelming evidence that vaccinations do not cause autism.
111. He falsely claims that fracking poses zero health risks.
Inciting Violence
Ochlocracy is rule by mob. Mob rule can be a flash reaction to a perceived injustice, one that is viscerally and/or inherently wrong. Other times its rage is harnessed by a leader. The Ochlocracy of 2016 owes its thanks to the dog-whistle-cum-bullhorn brazenness by which Trump has assembled his mob: a demagogue’s buffet of fearmongering, pathological lying, projection and delusion. The mob no longer questions reality as we know it — their leader has redefined truth to paradoxically become an “elastic constant”, and they are beholden now only to its repetition and not to its quality. With truth no longer a factor, only fear will prevail. Trump only needs to suggest certain actions be taken in the event of an eventual loss, and has done so on multiple occasions. The only question is, will Ochlocracy or Reason reign supreme on November 9th?
112. He incites violence against peaceful protesters.
113. He suggested “2nd amendment people” should deal with an eventual President Clinton.
114. He suggested Hillary Clinton should be put in jail and that he would put her there.
Insults
There is a time and a place for insults. No one in politics or their meta-friendlies in punditry is above the fray. It is, however, a cause for concern when Trump spends such a ridiculous amount of time insulting people, ultimately calling into question his ability to take any criticism, put down his mobile hate device, and lead. Trump spends so many waking hours of the night ripping people on Twitter, how could he possibly make time to govern as President? How would our allies and coalitions withstand the slightest perceived slight to Trump? How could Trump get any support in Congress for legislative action when he’s alienated so many lawmakers even before coming close to the Oath of Office? We were promised a demeanor pivot towards dignity in the general election campaign, but nothing in Trump’s 11th hour campaigning suggests he will ever be anything but petty and crude.
A less critical but highly amusing aspect of all these Twitter-tantrums is the language used. He likes the words “dopey”, “lightweight”, “third-rate”, “low-life”, “dumb”, “disaster”, “loser”, using each many times over. Does he speak like this because he knows his base will respond favorably to sophomoric language or is he really incapable of being witty or etymologically diverse? The New York Times has a full list of Trump’s insults for your linguistic study / morbid curiosity / outright horror.
Note: I don’t disagree with all of Trump’s assessments, but if I publicly slammed all the people in my life that I wanted to because I had no filter between my brain and my keyboard, I wouldn’t have any social contacts let alone a candidacy for President.

Litigation
The first item below “almost” says it all. It doesn’t even account for all the times the thin-skinned Trump threatened to sue someone. Sure, in the course of running a large company, there will be warranted times to be both a defendant and a plaintiff in various business dealings. But this many? I would hate to be the guy who once served him a Diet Pepsi instead of a Diet Coke at KFC.
245. He has been involved in 3500 lawsuits in the past 30 years.
246. He has threatened to sue many times, but has backed out of many of them.
247. He sued a journalist for $5 billion because he published a book about Trump that claims Trump’s net worth was a fraction of what Trump claimed.
248. He tried to sue a pair of businesspersons because they had the same last name as him. The case was thrown out.
249. He sued Univision for $500 million because they were no longer going to televise his beauty pageants after he made racist remarks about Mexicans.
250. He threatened to sue Lawrence O’Donnell for suggesting that he was worth less than $1 billion.
251. He threatened to sue rapper Mac Miller for his song “Donald Trump” after trying and failing to get Miller to sign over 25% of the revenue from the song.
252. He threatened to sue Bill Maher when Bill didn’t pay $5 million to a Trump charity after Trump proved he wasn’t the son of an orangutan.
253. He threatened to sue Angelo Carusone for trying to get Macy’s to dump Trump apparel.
254. He tried to sue an architectural critic into oblivion because the architect cast doubts on the ability of Trump to build a tower bigger than the Sears Tower (now Willis Tower).
255. He has been involved in a class action lawsuit by wait-listed members of the Jupiter National Golf Course who claimed that once Trump acquired the property, they were charged dues and fees for a golf course, spa and other amenities that they can’t use yet.
256. He threatened to sue political groups for running “nasty” ads against him.
257. He threatened to sue alleged sexual assault victims.
258. In 2006, the Town of Palm Beach began fining him $250 per day for ordinance violations related to his erection of an 80-foot-tall flagpole flying a 15 by 25 feet American flag on his property. He sued the town for $25 million, saying that they abridged his free speech, also disputing an ordinance that local businesses be "town-serving". The two parties settled as part of a court-ordered mediation, in which he was required to donate $100,000 to veterans' charities.
259. He sued a law firm he had used, Morrison Cohen, for $5 million for mentioning his name and providing links to related news articles on its website. This lawsuit followed another lawsuit alleging overcharging by the law firm, and a countersuit by Morrison Cohen seeking unpaid legal fees. The suit was dismissed in a 15-page ruling by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Eileen Bransten, who ruled that the links to news articles concerned "matters of public interest."
260. He was sued by investors who had made deposits for condos in the canceled Trump Ocean Resort Baja Mexico. The investors said that he misrepresented his role in the project, stating after its failure that he had been little more than a spokesperson for the entire venture, disavowing any financial responsibility for the debacle. Trump Taj Mahal declared bankruptcy in November 1990, the first of several such bankruptcies.

Lying
There isn’t even a word in the English language to describe the Herculean amount of lying Donald Trump has engaged in. “Pathological liar” doesn’t even seem to do it justice. For all the bemoaning conservatives do about “Lyin’ Hillary”, they are apparently unaware that their guy is the all time king of lying. Politifact confirms this. People who fact-check presidential debates confirm this. People furiously scribbling on legal pads to catch falsehoods at his rallies are taken aback at the unprecedented rate at which Trump lies. The compilation below, meager and humble as it is, could as well be called “Any Given Tuesday”.
