Fellow Mobilizers — every week, I check the news and take note of another existential threat to our future, usually related to our systematic destruction of the environment. Yesterday, I noted Donald Trump's rise in the polls, just a few days out from the election.
I am scared that if Donald Trump is elected the president of the United States, it will unleash uncontrollable social and political dynamics that, together with the climate emergency and the limits to growth, will precipitate the collapse of civilization.
Let's buy some time for our growing mobilization movement, civilization, and the natural world by electing Hillary Clinton president next Tuesday.
If you haven't already, please read my Oct. 5 Common Dreams article, "The Climate Emergency & The Election: A Pathway to WWII-scale Mobilization," to see why I am relatively hopeful about the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency. Primarily, it has to do with us — not Clinton and the lethal ideology of carbon gradualism that she currently embraces.
If you want to help get out the vote for Hillary Clinton in swing states, visit 350 Action's voter turnout page.
Next week we also have a chance not just to escape fascism, but to elect courageous political candidates across America who have actually pledged to mobilize against the climate emergency by calling for national goals of 100% clean energy and net zero emissions by 2025 in the United States.
If you have the chance to vote for one of these fine people, please do! See if candidates who have Pledged to Mobilize are running in your area.
