That was my map prediction back on May 24 and I suspect it will prove almost spot on by morning. You can read through it to see how accurate the calls were. Except of course for losing Florida, an inexcusable failure of the Clinton Campaign.
There's no excuse for losing Florida. So any effort to rebuild needs to begin there. Not in fucking Ohio or some shit like Wisconsin. Then look to North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Texas. There's where the future is. That's where the prosperity is for the Democratic Party.
But as for the old Midwest...these rural areas... gotta write it off folks. I'm telling you. These states are going to get whiter, older, and poorer. And their population will stagnate or decline. As a result...they'll only get more Trumpy. There's nothing to be done there. I expect even Minnesota will eventually tilt red.
Now, I know there's going to be some lamenting of the Democratic Party giving up on whole swaths of working class white folks but thems the breaks. They're not coming back no matter how much liberals beg and plead and cajole. If you are one of those Democrats in those states, trying to save your neighbors from themselves...I wish you luck. But move to Texas. Or Florida. Please.
The tide will turn. The media will turn. These things are cyclical. So look ahead at where the future is. Everything will be alright.
Now after the Iowa Caucus I raised some uncomfortable questions our turnout problem which also now appears prescient. As we examine the results, these are the kinds of things we should be thinking about. Especially in the area of candidate quality and fresh faces. The good thing here is this gives us the opportunity to get rid of a lot of dead wood in our congressional conference, almost all of whom practically have one foot in the grave. Time for a younger, fresher party.
That's all.
Oh yes...save your money. Seriously...save your money.
