How the March Evolved
Save the Date!
My niece has lived and worked in New York City for years. A few things she’s seen and heard this week:
“I have witnessed first hand in the middle of midtown manhattan people telling Indian women to go back to Iraq.”
“Kids have come home crying saying that their white classmates are telling them they will have to leave.”
“People have shouted at women that it is legal to now grab their pussies.”
She is now worried about walking alone at night in the city that she loves and felt safe in up until Wednesday.
This is New York City. The most advanced, cosmopolitan city in the world. In 2016.
We cannot just sit back and let this become the new norm. We simply cannot.
Please attend. Volunteer. Share this with everyone.

A couple of different women’s marches have merged into this one march. It was originally called the Million Women March on D.C. I’ve updated the diary to reflect the new name, the Women’s March on Washington.

Be on the lookout for an announcement about a new location for the march.
“I want to reassure you that we do have a permit application and have met with the permitting agencies,” the statement read. While our early plans announced that we would be rallying at the Lincoln Memorial, those plans have changed and our updated rally site is another location in the city. ...
We will not be releasing that information at this time because we are still in the permitting process and do not want to create further confusion.”
