How big have the turnouts been in TX? Well, TEXAS big. This is a case where some things ARE bigger down here...though it’s getting bigger than our britches.
We’ve got 4 (!) counties out of the top 15 that have already passed their 2012 TOTAL early votes.
Travis County (Austin) passed 2012’s early vote totals on Halloween. 2012’s total was 222,913 early voters. As of Oct, Travis had already had 231,923.
El Paso County passed 2012 the same day. 2012 was 93,558. The end of Oct had 93,896 early voters...and counting.
Williamson County (Round Rock) saw 100,472 early voters in 2012. For this race, Williamson had already had 104,286 turn out in the tech center by Austin.
Collin County (DFW) took it’s time: in 2012, they saw 213,447 early voters. As of yesterday, there were 219,060.
This is crazy — and impressive. ALL of these counties have huge Latino populations...and that’s a good thing. For the latest in daily early votes, see the diary I put up this morning here. I will keep updating as I get the numbers — but the STATE should pass it’s early voting total today. As of yesterday, we’re about 100K votes short, and on track for 1M early votes over 2012.
