I wrote this in a comment, and people suggested that I make this into a Diary, so I took that advice.
National Security Experts from EVERY single administration have said that Trump is a danger to our national security, and UNFIT as Commander in Chief.
Since the election, I have been following numerous different conservative Twitter feeds, and the general consensus is that Trump is not only UNFIT as Commander in Chief, he is a serious danger to our national security.
Conservatives on Twitter, from David Frum, Norman Ornstein, to John Noonan, have been VERY vocal, about how Trump is not only one of the MOST CORRUPT people to ever win the election, and was the MOST corrupt person who was running for president. MANY have been talking about how Trump is mentally unstable… the words UNFIT, are common and seen over and OVER again.
Here is a collection of just a few of these Republicans who came forward, to warn us that Trump is a danger.
50 G.O.P. Officials Warn Donald Trump Would Put Nation’s Security ‘at Risk’
Mr. Trump, the officials warn, “would be the most reckless president in American history.”
The letter says Mr. Trump would weaken the United States’ moral authority and questions his knowledge of and belief in the Constitution. It says he has “demonstrated repeatedly that he has little understanding” of the nation’s “vital national interests, its complex diplomatic challenges, its indispensable alliances and the democratic values” on which American policy should be based. And it laments that “Mr. Trump has shown no interest in educating himself.”
“None of us will vote for Donald Trump,” the letter states, though it notes later that many Americans “have doubts about Hillary Clinton, as do many of us.”
While foreign policy elites in both parties often argue among themselves — behind closed doors, or politely in the pages of Foreign Affairs magazine — it is extraordinarily rare for them to step into the political arena so publicly and aggressively.
Here''s the letter they all signed.
“lacks the character, values and experience” to be president and “would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being.”
Mr. Trump, the officials warn, “would be the most reckless president in American history.”
Former speechwriter for President George W. Bush David Frum laid out some terror Wednesday with an eerie predication of the course of Donald Trump’s impending authoritarianism. Mind you, these tweets were written by a conservative who wrote speeches for George W. Bush, a president largely accused of expanding and abusing executive branch power.
Frum’s point about Donald Trump having unfettered access to power is one I’ve been making since he won. Republicans have already proven that they are fine with weaponizing the FBI against Democrats in order to win an election, which places Donald Trump in the odd situation of being elected while acting like Richard Nixon. Perhaps because of it.
A national-security expert went on a Twitter rant against Trump's nuclear weapons position
John Noonan, a national-security expert who advised Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney, went off on Twitter on Wednesday, arguing that Trump's position on nuclear weapons makes him unfit for the presidency.
John Noonan, who advised both Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney on national security, has been criticized for espousing what some say are aggressive views on nuclear weapons. The Institute for Policy Studies characterized Noonan as part of the "hawkish extreme" of the Republican Party.
He also suggested that Trump's combative personality would make him too dangerous a figure to hold the keys to nuclear power - an attack line often used by Hillary Clinton and Democrats.
Team Trump Struggling to Fill National-Security Jobs
One person who met last month with Trump’s national security and homeland security transition team leader said that she confessed that many candidates had flatly rejected attempts to recruit them, believing that Trump was unfit to hold the office of commander in chief.
I told conservatives to work for Trump. One talk with his team changed my mind.
I am a national security Never-Trumper who, after the election, made the case that young conservatives should volunteer to serve in the new administration, warily, their undated letters of resignation ready. That advice, I have concluded, was wrong.
My about-face began with a discreet request to me from a friend in Trumpworld to provide names — unsullied by having signed the two anti-Trump foreign policy letters — of those who might be willing to serve. My friend and I had agreed to disagree a while back about my taking an uncompromising anti-Trump stand; now, he wanted assistance and I willingly complied.
This time may be different. Trump was not a normal candidate, the transition is not a normal transition, and this will probably not be a normal administration. The president-elect is surrounding himself with mediocrities whose chief qualification seems to be unquestioning loyalty. He gets credit for becoming a statesman when he says something any newly elected president might say (“I very much look forward to dealing with the president in the future”) — and then reverts to tweeting against demonstrators and the New York Times. By all accounts, his ignorance, and that of his entourage, about the executive branch is fathomless. It’s not even clear that he accepts that he should live in the White House rather than in his gilt-smeared penthouse in New York.
One bad boss can be endured. A gaggle of them will poison all decision-making. They will turn on each other. No band of brothers this: rather the permanent campaign as waged by triumphalist rabble-rousers and demagogues, abetted by people out of their depth and unfit for the jobs they will hold, gripped by grievance, resentment and lurking insecurity. Their mistakes — because there will be mistakes — will be exceptional.
Now, of course I could go on and ON… But, yes.. the general consensus is that Trump is absolutely dangerous, mentally unstable, and is terribly UNFIT for the presidency.
Too bad the media spent more time focusing on emails, rather than warning the public of just how dangerous Trump would be as president.
When national security experts from his own party, keep saying that Trump is unfit, maybe the USA should have listened to them. Maybe the media should have harped on this for the last 2 weeks of the election.
