Here’s what I just sent to her office:
Topic: Native Americans
Message Subject: Please intervene on behalf of #NoDAPL water protectors
This isn't just a single or small topic. It touches upon health & safety, food (and water) security, tribal sovereignty, and domestic security. It also touches the Constitutional right to protest, and challenges Congress to actually honor & respect treaties - not only when it is convenient for them, but also when it's not.
Americans are being injured, literally & severely, by corporate interests. Those interests are being protected and promoted through militarized police.
Please get with Cory Booker and others to stand with the Native Americans and their many allies at Standing Rock. Please stand up and stand against the Dakota Access Pipeline. And please make a strong statement on this soon - this weekend would be ideal.
I appreciate your stands against Trump, and his own vested conflicts of interest are a major cause for concern about security - both foreign and domestic - particularly now, as he's effectively created multiple soft, rich targets of opportunity around the world. More info can be seen here: [Link to “The Countdown has started on Trump’s Ticking Time Bombs” story]
We need to hear your voice and have your strength on the side of the Native Americans - the American People - against the Dakota Access Pipeline every bit as much as we need you to keep thumping Trump.
Please speak up soon, with your support.
Thank you.
- GreyHawk
Why did I mention Cory Booker? Because. Why did I email (and tweet, too) to Senator Warren? Because.
If you would like to contact Senator Warren to ask that she speak up and speak out on behalf of the #WaterProtectors, here’s her email contact page. They also provide links to her FB and Twitter accounts/feeds.
I’m still hoping that Secretary Clinton will make a far more emphatic statement to support the #WaterProtectors and call for intervention against the pipeline, and particularly against the increased violence against the protestors.
There are many fires burning, metaphorically, in terms of critical issues. I’ll tend to each as I can, in the order I can: I can’t always be everywhere at once. I know how outrage fatigue and disappointment can impact our ability to stand, to fight, to organize, and to progress...but I will still fight to do so.
I hope you all can do so too.
I know my priorities aren’t yours; the way I see and rate critical issues won’t match everyone (or even anyone) else’s personal method. But I think we all agree on the top issues — whether you’ve only got 1, or three, or seven, and someone else has 5, or 2, or seventy-seven, there’s plenty to go around. And to unite on. And to fight on, with our friends and allies.
This really seems like 2016 is “the year of teh stoopid.” I want to end the year on a note of hope.
Can you help? Are you in?
Share in comments your top issue or issues — it doesn’t have to be a complete list. Pick 1, or three, and any given link to either more information about the issue or a link to how we can help.
Let’s do this. (These?) Together.
