The Green Party lost an appeal on Wednesday afternoon in the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia County. The appeal probably represented the best chance for the Green Party to obtain access to voting machines in Pennsylvania.
After a meeting on December 1, the Board of Elections agreed to recount 4% of precincts in the City of Philadelphia. However, Stein’s plea to the Board of Elections included a request to have experts conduct a “forensic examination of voting machines and materials.” Attorneys for the Trump campaign protested, and the board turned down Stein’s request.
On Wednesday afternoon, the court agreed with the board’s position citing the ability of each party to be present when votes were being tested or tabulated, and limits in the law that do not provide for the kind of examination requested.
Though there are still some outstanding actions, in all likelihood this case represented the best opportunity for actually being able to conduct a search for “tampering, malware, and/or hacking.”
