From a Face Book post by MSOC to the HuffPo link. (Dear White Feminists: Your Good Intentions Aren’t Enough) it hit one of my pet peeves. Why are you doing your Good Deed? Seriously? Why?
I know many here do it for the right reasons, but too many others do it not because it’s the right thing to do, but because it brings them attention. Doing good work isn’t about you. It’s about the beneficiary of the good work. So stop trying to make it about you.
Not pointing the finger at any one person or group. Way too many people or groups are constantly seeking congratulatory pats for "their work". If you're doing anything for any group, person or cause and want recognition stop it! You're doing it for the wrong reasons. I don't want to hear your false brags about how busy you are doing this or that great and wonderful thing. Stop being an Obit Builder (You know that 16" Obit that list every organization and charity the deceased ever did in their life.) Do it because you believe in it. Do it because you love doing it. Do it because it fulfills your soul. The world doesn't have to know every little thing you do. There's an old saying; "You can tell the character of a person when they do the right thing when no one is around to see it." Live that saying. If you live that saying, trust me, everyone will know. You won't have to tell a soul.
It’s Christmas, a season of giving. When you give, give out of love. The love with which you give a loved one a gift at Christmas. You’re not giving for recognition (at least I hope you’re not) when you give at Christmas, so don’t look for special recognition the rest of the year.

One more thing.
When you’re part of a team doing a project, be happy with the teams recognition, don’t get pissy because you didn’t get special recognition. You’re insulting all the other team members and diminishing their work. DBAD!
