Well I woke up late this morning, scared I was going to miss Bernie Sanders rally in Dallas Texas today. I was having one of those “oh shit, oh shit” mornings, it was like I couldn’t find anything. I also forgot to start the washing machine last night so I would only have to dry my clothes this morning, but that didn’t work out so well.
While I was busy with my morning constitutional, reading Dailykos on my tablet, I noticed someone had posted a diary about Bernie’s rally in Dallas and it was only 10am and there were already 1500 people waiting for the door to open at like noon, and then the programs starts at three. I was like holy crap I’m not gonna get in, Senator Sanders has this habit of filling up venues rather quick, and then overflow crowds have to go somewhere.
I didn’t actually leave my apartment till about noon and traffic was grid lock. I have no clue as to what was happening with traffic, but every way I went, it was bumper to bumper and moving at a snails pace.
I used to live in Southern California and had to endure tremendous traffic, hours at a snails pace, but in Dallas, the fear, if the drivers with guns and a bad attitude, but everything went fine, till I got to Interstate 30, my exit was blocked, construction, yeah!. So I did another detour and thought for sure I would not make it.
I finally arrived about 1pm and the line of cars to the entrance to the venue was all the way to the main road, Belt line road. (I have some video footage I’ll upload later). It took nearly 30 minutes just to park. The traffic was YUGE! But people were yelling, hooting and hollering “Go Bernie” or FeeelTheBern from their cars.
It was really like going to a big name rock concert. Heck, thousands of people showed up. It was amazing.
Just as a side note, usually when you go somewhere there’s always that one buttwipe that makes things bad for everyone else, well, I didn’t experience that. Everyone was just as polite as could be. Not quite the sexist, asshole BernieBro’s as the Senator’s supporters have been made out to be by some people. Everybody was just super cool. Even the secret service guys were polite when I got too close. (lol)
Well enough of my gabbing, here’s some more pictures from the event.
I did get most of Bernie’s speech on video but it’s going to take awhile to put it together. Y’all have a great day and I’ll read ya soon.
RR
PEACE!
PS: Vote by Tuesday, for Bernie!
