We are often our own worst enemy.
Environmentally, we’re an ongoing disaster, a slow motion train wreck we can’t seem to stop. We’re the only species that fouls its own nest. It comes back to bite us in our collective asses, too, although we never seem to realize that until it’s too late.
Join me below what was previously the squiggly cheese curl and is now only a stupid gray line for more.
But First, A Word From Our Sponsor:

The big takeaway is the last part of this video (although the first half is amazing, too).
We’re literally destroying the lifeline of new medicinals that come from plants through climate change, habitat destruction, and clear cutting of rainforests before those species have even been identified. How stupid is that?
We’re already facing the end of the antibiotic era as bacteria become more and more resistant to available antimicrobials. Overuse of antibiotics by prescription or by inclusion in animal fodder to limit disease spread among too closely confined livestock are the cause, but there hasn’t even been a new class of antibiotics developed since the 1980s! Drug companies find more profit from drugs taken routinely rather than drugs taken for a course of a few days to a little more than a week.
Logging, clear cutting forests for farming, and the abusive clear cutting for palm oil plantations are having devastating effects not just on animal species whose habitat is eliminated, but on the proliferation of plants. New plant species are continually being discovered and botanists worry that many new species are being destroyed before they have even been found to be catalogued, much less investigated for chemical and medicinal properties.
The almighty dollar needs to stop being the top priority.
It would be nice if we’d stop being our own worst enemies before it’s too late.
Addendum: Condolences to Steven Payne and his husband Brian on the passing of Brian’s father after a long illness. Peace and blessings on you all.
