Tom Fiegen, who was raised farming, is a candidate for the US Senate in Iowa.
Tom Fiegen is the only candidate supporting CSA and calling for support for small Iowa farms growing food for local consumption.
Tom, a farm bankruptcy lawyer with a practice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, grew up farming. CSA he says, needs and deserves a strong voice in Washington. Fiegen is the only US Senate candidate even discussing CSA, let alone supporting it.
"Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is the rebirth of the Homestead Act. Across the country, young people are returning to the land, to cultivate it in a sustainable way to grow our food.”
Fiegen, whose grassroots campaign refuses super-PAC money, and calls for overturning Citizens United, says CSA and Iowa deserve a US Senator who is not beholden to big ag interests whose interests are often at odds with public health and the desires of Iowans. Fiegen who endorsed Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders last summer, says, “Iowa’s polluted waters are a disgrace and a threat to the people of Iowa and the health of the ecosystem.”
“The CSA movement is vital if we are going to decentralize and democratize our food supply away from corporations that put profits and chemical additives above people. It is the way back for Rural America. Our next Farm Bill should emphasize more fresh healthy local foods and CSA’s, not GMO Roundup Ready commodity crops that poison us and our environment."
