In a move that says volumes about today’s Republican Party and today’s media, the Washington Post asks "Why doesn't John Kasich get more media coverage?" Answer:
John Kasich is kinda boring. That's the shortest answer to the question of why he doesn't attract more media coverage.
Compared to the showmanship of Donald Trump and the oiliness of Ted Cruz, this isn’t an outlandish statement. But consider. The boring guy in the Republican presidential field signed a law limiting collective bargaining rights for public workers, only to have it decisively jammed back in his face by voters. He has repeatedly targeted women's health care and reproductive rights. He’s a major champion of privatization. He got a lot of good press for accepting Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion, but he’s trying to kick people off Medicaid if they can’t afford health savings accounts. He blames “the minority community” for high infant mortality.
In short, this guy is scary! If that can be hard to see, the Republican Party is definitely to blame for offering so many more flagrantly scary candidates. But it would also be nice if the media would do more than shrug and explain that he’s boring.
