Some very encouraging news out of North Carolina:
The latest U.S. Senate campaign fundraising results made available Wednesday by Republican incumbent Richard Burr of Winston-Salem and Democratic challenger Deborah Ross of Raleigh show that donors dug deeper for Ross but Burr still has a lot more money.
Ross raised $1.3 million during the three months ending March 31 while Burr raised $1.1 million, according to aides with both campaigns.
“Her numbers reflect the strong groundswell of support from people across North Carolina who are tired of politics as usual and of people like Richard Burr in Washington not working to address their needs or stand up for their values,” said Ross spokesman Austin Vevruka. “Richard Burr has been in Washington for more than 20 years and is still being out-raised.”
Now Burr still has a $5.8 million war chest but this is an excellent start for Ross’ campaign. The passage of HB2 along with the potential nomination of Donald Trump are hurting Republicans like Burr and Gov. Pat McCrory (R. NC). So lets help keep Ross fundraising numbers up and help other Tar Heel Democrats like Attorney General Roy Cooper (D. NC) take back North Carolina.
