Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) is the first target of Planned Parenthood of the general election cycle.
WMUR.com has learned that Planned Parenthood Votes, an independent expenditure committee affiliated with Planned Parenthood, is starting a $400,000 buy featuring an ad entitled "Lifetime" as an early step in what is expected to be a series of attacks on Ayotte that will continue through November. […]
The ad blasts Ayotte for supporting the Senate Republican leadership's refusal to hold hearings and a vote on U.S. Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland. It also hits Ayotte for her support of overturning the landmark Roe v. Wade decision. […]
"Kelly Ayotte may try to paint herself as pro-woman, but her record tells a very different story," Deirdre Schifeling, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, said. "Every chance she's gotten, she's voted to 'defund' Planned Parenthood and cut women off from essential health care like birth control and breast and cervical cancer screenings."
"She has been advocating for years to ban women's access to safe, legal abortion, and it's clear she now sees her chance in the Supreme Court process. Kelly Ayotte is refusing to do her job, and abdicating her constitutional duty, in order to push an extreme agenda that no one in New Hampshire wants. Enough is enough. Kelly Ayotte's bad politics could have repercussions for a lifetime."
You can watch the ad below the fold. Ayotte tries to play the moderate, like she's trying now to pretend she's not obstructing President Obama's Supreme Court nominee by agreeing to meet with him. But she's just another one of Mitch McConnell's puppets on that, and an extremist on a woman's right to choose.
New Hampshire can do a hell of a lot better, and has the choice: Maggie Hassan.
