This is going to be short and sweet and directed toward the members of the Kos community who are still harping with outrage about Sanders comments, which he has now walked back, questioning Hillary’s fitness for the presidency (after she more or less questioned his). And my message is — Get over it already! Nobody else gives a flying fuck about your — or your candidate’s — hurt feelings. I have just read a diary on the rec list which refers to Sanders comments as “catastrophic.” if nothing else, referring to an aside, made in the context of a tit-for-tat moment within a stump speech, as catastrophic (or saying that such comments made you “sick to your stomach”) would suggest that one who makes such a statement probably is too busy being outraged by politicking to be outraged by actual outrages — in other words issues, like a middle class that keeps shrinking, a climate that is becoming overheated and less stable thanks to too much human induced carbon in the atmosphere, a political system that appears to be morphing into an oligarchy, crumbling infrastructure, lead contaminated water across the country, attacks on the LGBT community, an institutionally racist criminal justice system, attacks on Planned Parenthood and on abortion providers, to name just a few. Perhaps also we can express a bit of outrage toward those who lied — or allowed themselves to be lied into the costly fiasco of the Iraq War and toward the destabilizing effect that this has had throughout the Middle East. You want something to feel outraged about? Maybe spend a few moments listening to these individuals discussing the long term consequences of our invasion of Iraq.
And for what it’s worth, no one gives a flying fuck about the possibility of Sanders’ hurt feelings, either. But then, Sanders himself gets that, which is why the campaign that he has been running and has wanted to run is issue oriented, one dealing with actual issues and actual things in the real world that warrant actual outrage.
