Bernie Sanders again pulled a fast one this morning.
I looked up in the web the program of the conference of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, available in pdf format in the link below.
www.pass.va/…
Sanders is not a speaker.
He is not a headliner as claimed by some.
He is listed in the program as one of eight Other Participants.
There are 28 regular Participants in the Program, including 12 Speakers,
Speakers get a picture and bio in the program.
Participants get a picture but no bio,
Other participants get neitehr.
Professor Archer the President of the Pontifical Academy of Social Science is the Welcoming host of the Confernece and speakers
Bishop Sorondo is not a speaker, although he is listed as a participant.
Pope Francis is not in the program.
Sanders as one of the other participants can speak as part of the General Discussion.
So, there are three classes of attendees: Speakers, Participants, and Other Participants
Sanders is in the third class.
I doubt that the President of the Academy, who is mad at Sanders will change the program and grant Sanders a regular speaking slot.
As far as I can tell Bishop Sorondo, as the Chancellor, is the equivalent. or the head of the Staff or Executive Director of the Academy, which surprise, surprise is comprised of academics headed by Prof. Archer.
Bishop Sorondo, who is not a Cardinal, is not a Vatican Official, much less a high-level one. Neither is Professor Archer.
When and where is Sanders speaking with the Pope?
Will he stay for the whole two days of the conference given his low status?
Rather than an honor to be invited, in my personal judgment, Senator Sanders’ low status in the Conference is an embarrassment.
Did Senator Sanders Lie?
You decide.
