After a Twitter battle with Republican candidate Donald Trump on May 6, Senator Elizabeth Warren (Dem-Mass) sat down with Policy.MIC’s Zeeshan Aleem for an interview. They discussed the Trump’s attacks — but not before discussing what Warren thought this country would look like if Trump were to win in November:
ZEESHAN ALEEM: Well, last week you got in a pretty big Twitter spat with Trump actually, and you had said that he had a dangerous vision for America. What do you think America will look like under a Trump presidency?
SEN. WARREN: I think it will be more of a government that works for a thin slice at the top and a government that leaves everyone else behind, and the problem with that is it's not just government, it's government becomes the tool then, to have the economy work that way. So, increasingly we live in a world where the economy works for a narrower and narrower slice of America. Right up there at the top, you know, Washington, it works great if you can hire an army of lobbyists, if you can hire an army of lawyers, if you can afford to make a zillion dollars in campaign contributions, it will work great for you. It's just not working for the rest of America, and this our chance, right here in 2016 to change that.
Here is the MIC video:
Here are some of the Twitter attacks by Trump, in his asshat fashion:
Zeehan Aleem then asks, “During that exchange, he [Trump] also called you goofy, what went through your mind when he said that at first?” Warren’s reply:
“Really? That's the best you could come up with? Come on. I thought Donald Trump said he was a guy that was good with words.”
Also during Warren’s interview with Aleem, the senator was asked her thoughts on why Trump responded so “viscerally” during their Twitter exchange. Warren implied Trump fears being held accountable.
"I don't think he likes that."
"I don't know if it's that Donald Trump is not used to people who stand up and challenge him, and I don't mean on silly stuff, or on personal stuff. This is really about the issues he's put on the table and talking about him, Donald Trump," she said, accusing him of "defrauding students" through the for-profit Trump University and "cheating others" by declaring bankruptcy.”
"I don't think that's where Donald Trump wants to be, the idea that he has to be held accountable, I don't think he likes that," Warren continued. "I think he's actually a lot weaker than he wants to admit."
Then on Wednesday, May 11, Elizabeth Warren came out with a smack attack that would have just about anyone laughing out loud — maybe even some Trump supporters. The tweet below is just one example of Warren’s retorts. More of the senator’s responses on Twitter are included in Walter Einenkel’s Daily Kos article HERE.
Once again, Elizabeth Warren does us proud. It’s so good to know this strong, outspoken, extremely intelligent and compassionate Democratic lawmaker is part of our U.S. Congress and government. Warren gives many Americans a hope for the future, as well as a hope she will one day make the Oval Office — an 8-year workplace. In the meantime, thank you, Senator, for all the good you do and have done for the American people.
Sign the pledge: Donald Trump is dangerous. I will participate in the Get Out The Vote efforts to defeat Donald Trump and elect a Democratic president in November. Read more info here.
